The Sacral Chakra is the second chakra and is known to be the center of pleasure, enjoyment and creativity.
Located in the lower abdomen, the sacral chakra represents the very center of "You."The chakra originates from the Sanskrit word "Svadhishthana," which translates as "one's own place" and refers to the true and untarnished aspects of the real you. The color associated with the second chakra is orange, which stands for warmth and emotion. Someone with a balanced second chakra radiates warmth and is able to speak openly about emotions.
What is Sacral Chakra healing?
Chakras can be described as meeting points of energy channels through which energy flows. Healing is needed when the chakra is either too open or blocked.
Svadhisthana is the center of pleasure and when this energy is healthy it brings a powerful and natural feeling of intimacy to the individual.
It is considered strong and healthy when the ideas of passion and intimacy are seen as pleasurable and natural, and bring a feeling of happiness to your body and spirit. Life is joyous and bright.
This chakra is particularly related to emotional issues and those who have a blocked Sacral Chakra will encounter emotional and intimacy issues in relationships.
Misuse of sexual energy, and others relating to personal ethics, self-esteem and creativity are also the results of a blocked sacral chakra. (You can jump to the healing by clicking here.)
Sacral Chakra Imbalance
So how can you find out whether your chakra is out of balance?Generally, people with an imbalance 2nd Chakra will feel plenty of shame, guilt, or internal pain.
Passion and love are very hard to come by in this state and impossible to nourish. Self-doubt, depression, and the acceptance of false reality are all serious problems when the sacral chakra is not at its best.
These are areas that can affect every other chakra on your body, and affect your entire being if your 2nd chakra is not balanced. This is why maintaining the positive health of this particular chakra is so important.
When this Svadhisthana chakra is out of balance, a person may also experience emotional instability, fear of change, sexual dysfunction, depression, or addictions.
By understanding this chakra, it is simpler to regain some of that underlying passion that wants to get out. This is the chakra for a person to showcase their creativity and let it out.
Has your energy felt off in one or more areas of your life? Are you specifically finding it hard to even get excited about being excited? Trying to remember even how to get you going again? If you find yourself in these situations then it is time to take a look at your Sacral Chakra and getting it back into line so you can enjoy the full beauty and benefits of life and all it has to offer.

One of the most positive things about balancing sacral chakra is that all it really requires is for you to do more of what makes you happy. It’s doing all the simple things, dance and sing like no one’s watching or do simple exercises regularly like yoga or just go for a run.
Also try meditation and visualize the color orange, which is the sacral chakra’s color and most importantly – Let Go. Learning to let go of unhealthy emotions, people and memories is crucial as you are letting go of your negative emotional baggage and making space and energy for better opportunities in life.
Additionally there are specific yoga poses that can be carried out for those who wish to control this center of pleasure and passion and take action on their own.
These poses include the "sun salutations". In essence, one has to go through all 12 poses to regain balance and make sure they are as centered as possible at all times. Usually it is recommended to perform these poses early in the morning after waking up for best effect.
It has also been known that other methods such as acupressure, sexual union, massage, and playful contact sports are proven to help with balancing the chakra. It is best to mix these around and give each a chance to provide balance.
What are the four ways to heal this 2nd chakra and make sure a person is on the right path towards passion and pleasure?
The yoga sun salutations as mentioned before is a good start and can provide order as required early in the morning. It is also recommended to have massages on the body to help relax ourselves and recover some of the lingering passion that is present afterwards.
Another method that can be applied would be to use acupressure. There are many rigid parts of the human body that tend to cause issues and it is recommended to use acupressure as a means to release this tension. With the help of the right techniques, acupressure can provide tremendous relief for those who are seeking out proper healing now and in the future.
The mantra sound that corresponds to the sacral chakra is the sound VAM. By chanting VAM, the vibrations will open and align this chakra. The color for the second chakra is orange and the gemstones for this chakra are amber, calcite orange, carnelian, or hematite. Imagine a bright, healing orange glow filling up your entire lower abdomen. To heal a specific injury or disease in your body, focus on the specific part of your body and ‘send’ your breath and the colour orange to it.
The mudras or hand gesture associate with the sacral chakra is called the Sakthi Mudra. With your palms in front of your chest, press your pinky and ring fingertips together. Fold your thumbs into your palms, inside of your index and middle finger. You can then press the knuckles of these two fingers together (pictured) or keep them separate. This gesture can be used during meditation and to help with opening up the chakra.
